Maximise Postage Savings
(Through the use of Software)

Royal Mail and Down Stream Access Providers (DSA Providers) have a long list of postal tariffs available beyond that of what any consumer would normally see. There are obviously significant savings when moving from stamps to franking solutions, but there are big savings to be had beyond even these.

Key areas of postal savings:

  • Folding down A4 letters Folding down A4 letters to DL (in 3) or C5 (in half) to access letter postage rates rather than large letter postage rates and instantly save as much as 42% on postage costs
  • Grouping Documents – Sending multiple letters to the same person, then grouping documents together to go out in a single pack avoids multiplying spend for additional separated packs.
  • Business Mail Advanced – Sending over 500 letters in a single mailing of the same size, weight band and class and you could access further postal savings find out more here
  • Bulk Mailings Advanced – Sending thousands of letters, then it will likely be worth understanding more about mail sortation and mailmark barcodes to help you access the best rates available
  • Down Stream Access (DSA) providers act as mail aggregators, processing large volumes of mail and delivering to Royal Mails main hubs. Because DSA providers are doing a lot of the work for Royal Mail, Royal Mail provides them with exceptional rates, some of which is passed on to clients. This is a great service but deemed a second class service as the added processing causing a slight delay in the process with delivery times extended to 3-5 days. Additional savings of 15-20% are not unrealistic if your organisation is sending a reasonable volume.

  • Hybrid Mail – Hybrid mail software not only allows for a full audit and process tracking but typically provides savings in all areas including; print, production, fulfilment and postage. This is quickly becoming the preferred method of businesses processing ad-hoc letters from there desktop or regularly system generated mail runs such as invoicing or client communication letters.
